Welcome
We would like to welcome you to
the website for the Longhorn Section of the IFT. The Longhorn Section of
the IFT was established as a regional section of the Institute of Food
Technologists. The Longhorn Section serves professional members in the
North Texas market and supports to the educational institutions of Texas
A&M University, Texas Tech University and Texas Woman's University.
The Longhorn Section of the IFT
is a non-profit scientific society with over 500 members working in food
science, food technology, and related professions in industry, academia
and government.
Mission and Goals
The mission
of the IFT is to advance the science and technology of food through the
exchange of knowledge.
The goals of
the National IFT and the Longhorn Section are:

Membership and Activities
We would encourage you to join
the Longhorn Section of the IFT, which can be done by visiting the
National IFT Web Site. Be sure to
complete the entire form and to select the Longhorn Section under the
Regional category to be a member of the Longhorn Section. The yearly
sectional dues are $10.00 and $5.00 for student membership. Membership
Benefits include:
Meetings throughout the year.
These meetings are a great place to learn valuable information and to
network with fellow professionals. Meetings are held typically on a
monthly basis September through May and feature speakers from Academia,
Government, the food industry and trade associations who will speak on a
wide variety of topics or the meeting could include tours of various
food related facilities.
A newsletter informing members
about upcoming meetings, job opportunities and other news of interest.
An opportunity to network and
make new contacts with other professionals in the Texas food industry.
An opportunity to participate
in various activities throughout the year, including the Annual
Christmas Party, the Annual Golf Tournament and the Annual Supplier’s
Night.
